Day 3: More and more work. I’m amazed by the effort the students are making to get the entire manual translated. This is the best group one could ever work with. AMAZING!

Day 2: We worked hard today, even without the internet! Students from Escuela de Arte 10 and educator Ana Angulo joined us again today and worked immensely! They organized themselves today to get things done.

Día 2: hoy trabajamos muy duro, ¡sin el acceso al internet! Los magníficos estudiantes de la Escuela de Arte 10 y su profesora Ana Angulo vinieron de nuevo a trabajar inmensamente. Los estudiantes se organizaron entre ellos y coordinaron el proceso para trabajar al máximo.

Day 1: is off to a good start. There’s about 10 students from Escuela de Arte Número Diez here at Medialab Prado (Madrid, Spain) working on the Inkscape FLOSS Manual. They’re working in teams translating the entire manual into Spanish. There’s also 3 remote collaborators translating the Collaborative Futures manual.

Día 1: hemos empezado muy bien. Tenemos aproximadamente unos 10 estudiantes de la Escuela de Arte Número Diez aquí en Medialab Prado (Madrid, España) trabajando en el Manual FLOSS de Inkscape. Los estudiantes se han organizado en grupos para traducir el manual del inglés al español. Además hoy contamos con 3 colaboradores remotos que han estado trabajando en el manual Collaborative Futures.

When a great show involves Bono and a laser jacket

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to go to the U2 360 Tour at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey. Being U2 I knew it was going to be an amazing show but when Bono came out to the stage with a beautiful laser jacket my heart stopped. You know how obsessed I am with garments involving technology and this one was a beatiful one. The jacket was designed by the amazing Moritz Waldemeyer. Go to his blog and check out the amazing work.

For the encore Bono was dressed in a black leather jacket featuring my latest wearable effects concept: 240 lasers along the silhouette extended Bono’s every move all the way across the audience.

Open Studios

The day is here! Open Studios for the residency. Here are some pictures of the people interacting with my installation. I’m pleased with the result and I got positive feedback from it.

Day 28 [July 1st]

Today I started to build the final prototype. The first step was to connect the pressure sensors to the Arduino without the alligator clips. I tried using yarn to hide the conductive thread but it was taking too much time. So I decided to test other materials. Kate gave me a little piece of this white fabric with conductive thread in the middle

But I decided to go with the ribbon cable, since it was going to be more organized and easier to set up.

Day 27 [June 30th]

Today I went to the wood shop early in the morning to work with Daniel on the stand of the bowl for the projection. We started with the wooden “base” by cutting a circular shape into the wood and making a hole for the bowl in the middle.

This was the magic “pink thing” to fix the holes on the wood

The base is ready, now it needs to dry

After making the base for the bowl I was so happy that I couldn’t stop myself from trying the mirror and the projector.

This mirror is too big for what I need, but it’s just a test
